Trumbull Yards Outgrown by Their Own Trees
Many Trumbull neighborhoods were planted decades ago, and the trees show it. Maples and oaks now shade most of the lot. Grass under them thins to moss and bare soil. Foundation shrubs from the original Trumbull landscaping have grown past the windows.
Rocky subsoil sits just below the topsoil in much of Trumbull. New shrubs planted in tight holes stall after a season. Water pools in some spots and drains too fast in others. These issues keep Trumbull landscape beds from ever filling in the way owners hoped.
Then come the seasonal problems. Fall leaf drop buries beds and lawns under heavy layers. Deer from the Pequonnock River Valley browse yews and hostas. Winter storms break limbs over roofs and driveways. Trumbull landscaping without a plan just keeps falling behind.
